Other productions in our current repertoire include:
"LESHYI" (Wood-Goblin) -scenes from country life in four acts by Anton Chekhov , a production by the St.Petersburg Theatre for Young Spectators named after Bryantsev.
Directed by Grigory Kozlov and Iv includean Latyshev.
Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860-1904), Russian playwright and short-story writer, noted for his masterful short stories and lyrical dramas.
He is recognized all over the world as the author of "Uncle Vanya", "The Three Sisters", "The Cherry Orchard".
The play "Leshiy"("Wood-Goblin") is notable for the date of creation- 7 years prior to the famous "Uncle Vanya" (1895). Many critics consider it to be "an unfinished sketch" or "rough copy" of his play "Uncle Vanya". But this play is complete, individual and independent piece of art.
"Leshiy"("Wood-Goblin") is the only lyrical drama by Chekhov, which ends more or less happily and features positive characters. But in this play also we can see the main theme: the pathos of life caused by the inability of human beings to respond to or even communicate with one another and the pervading mood of sadness and hopelessness arising from this situation.
