The Master-Class is conducted by Ludmila Martynova - a specialist in Russian classical drama, a PH.D. in Arts, the Art Director of the "Classical Theatre" which was founded in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1990.
Ludmila Martynova - is a disciple of the outstanding Russian stage director Georgy Tovstonogov and the legendary pedagogue and stage director Rosa Sirota.
Ms. Martynova is a post-graduate of the St. Petersburg Academy of Theatre Arts and has been teaching at the Higher Theatre Educational Institutions for thirty years. She has also trained at the Moscow Art Academic Theatre (MAT) and at the All-Russia Moscow State Institute of Theatre Arts (VGITIS). Her candidate thesis was devoted to G. Tovstonogov Æ methods of teaching actors. She published her writings on G. Tovstonogov and Erzi Grotovski and co-authored and edited a book about R. Sirota.
Professionally she adheres to the Russian school of psychological theatre, and the exercise method of rehearsing, and the creation of improvisational spontaneity in actors working on a theatre production.
Ms. Martynova has staged over 50 theatre productions; this number including Russian classical plays by Chekhov, theatre adaptations of Dostoyevsky, drama pieces by Ostrovsky, Gogol, Nekrasov and others.
