Before the performance you will enjoy music performed by
the string quartet named after Rimsky-Korsakov of
the "Petersburg-concert" ("The Kotchneva House") so the best time to come is 6:30 p.m.
The performance will be simultaneously translated by
Mark Nicolaev with the equipment provided by "SYN".

Andrei Platonov (1889-1951), Russian prose writer, poet, and
critic of the epoch of creating of peasant Collective farms
and Stalinist repressions had courage
to have his own view of things.
His creative work was a very special period.
It takes a certain amount of effort
to understand Platonov's words,
which are capable of opening to the reader
a new way of percepting the world.
Platonov's writing defends the uniqueness of a human personality.

"Potudan" is based on Platonov's short story
"The Potudan River".
The narration begins with the main character's return
from the Civil War, with his beginning
to have a new understanding of the world, he finds himself in.
This story tells about a coming back, a homecoming, a return
to love and one's own self as well as
about hope for a happy life in the future.

The "Petersburg-concert" is located in the very center of
St. Petersburg on the Fontanka embankment, 41.
The ancient mansion, known as "The Kotchneva House" (Dom Kotchnevoi), was built in the beginning of XIX century and is considered as a monument of architecture.
The leading masters of classicism took part in its creation: Luigi Rusca, Giovanni Scotti, Ivan Terebnev.
Here, in the Kotchneva House, you can feel a special kind of union between performers and
the audience.
